Jesus, looking back being stunned how inessential Reputation was. Gun to my head tell me to list Taylor Swift singles I would hit Tim McGraw before Look What You Made Me Do.
That was a US #1!

There were a lot of negative developments in American race relations over the 2010s, so the fact that Reputation was Taylor Swift’s worst album wasn’t in the top 20, but long-term it probably was in the top 40.

Been bumbling around the neighborhood lately, appreciating how it’s reinventing itself as the kind of “Portland” I knew closer in in the early 2010s but had started to write off, like “are we… in the sun-dappled clearing now?”
And had that in mind as I went into a dispensary and “Out of the Woods” came on because of course it did, and I had to keep from looking a fool and crying while the clerk rang up my Pink Lemonade Full Spectrum Blast gummies

Taylor Swift doing Capital One commercials is interesting.
Ultimate comedy option is she’s just doing them to get credits towards her Screen Actors Guild health insurance
Oh my God what if she had been doing it to get in before the strike?

See the real deep cut Taylor Swift lyrics to get tetchy about would’ve been Begin Again, the “you’re helping me get over a breakup by being everything to me he couldn’t” song off Red, the album about breaking up with Jake Gyllenhaal, where her examples include “talking about your family’s Christmas traditions”
(the Gyllenhaals are Jewish)

Also “Taylor Swift was the first female country artist to sing about BPD” is a bad take. I mean,
“Taylor Swift was the first female country artist to acknowledge BPD” also a bad take! She didn’t! She’s been doing it all in subtext, it’s just the 21st century and she’s better as a lyricist!

“Oh Taylor Swift is woke bowdlerizing Speak Now by replacing the ‘she’s better known for the things that she does on the mattress’ line about Camilla Belle”

We don’t talk enough about how amazing Taylor Swift’s “Begin Again” is for being a sincere, heartfelt appreciation of a rebound relationship you’re having to get over a breakup.
