I want to remind people that it being this normal for people to live into their 70s and 80s specifically postdates the postwar medical “War on Cancer” and the 1990s development of statins.

Kind of a prerequisite. If you start knocking out the production, distribution, and appropriate usage of vaccines and antibiotics then you get the current down-ward trend in the US longevity, and you start bringing back such bangers as “measles outbreaks” and “Let grandma die to pandemic disease”.
