they need to stop this NFL season now i am not joking or being facetious they need to reevaluate how football is played fundamentally and it should have happened after Tua earlier this season

they are doing CPR on a player down on the field right now this sport should not be played by children. it shouldn’t be played by anyone as it is right now

I’m no football fan, but it sounds like what happened here was commotio cordis, i.e. getting thumped in the chest at precisely the wrong instant such that it induces cardiac arrest. It can potentially happen in basically any sport and is unlikely enough that it’s essentially a freak accident. This isn’t the same thing as the concussions and subconcussive hits inducing CTE that are plaguing football at the moment, and I don’t think people should update much on it.

That Batman: The Animated Series episode where the martial arts master villain has a one-hit kill Batman has to figure out by examining his practice dummy? Yeah, that’s real. Kills a high school baseball or lacrosse player every now and then.
