Like, the Seattle consulate would probably be better, but being in the circuit of the Portland Japanese consulate is actually pretty sweet. It’s like “Do you like Japanese shit that’s not exclusively weeb shit? It is literally our job to indulge you!”
Huh, what services do they provide? (I’m in Seattle and am kind of a not-exclusively-weeb.)
They run showings/talks/events of from-Japan stuff, they tell you about job openings or even sponsored business opportunities doing Japanese-adjacent stuff, they promote all the Japanese-themed artisans and businesses in the area, all while cultivating opportunities for you to make social/business/other connections with the other people who would care
