Imagine being the protege of some Mein Kampf-reading fascist shithead, convincing him to let you be the next president of Mexico, making a bold leftist platform that you convince the right wingers to go along with because it’s “just empty promises”, touring the country and building your own base of popular support, taking over the party and booting out all the conservatives, evicting your old mentor from the country, and then actually fulfilling all the crazy campaign promises you made, including the long-delayed project of land reform that had been central to the revolution that started 24 years prior. Literally one of the politicians of all time
Possibly the only time “join the system and be a good soldier, carefully amass power until you can take over and really change things” has ever actually, like, worked?
