ASL learning platform was probably filmed at RIT, home of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. RIT also has a huge visual art school thanks to decades of Kodak taxbreak money so casting two twinks and a butch for an acting gig filmed there is not exactly implausible even if you weren't trying to do it on purpose.
