I was going to Wizards of the Coast Magic: The Gathering summer camp in Seattle in the mid-1990s, we were using the University of Washington dorms. One day we went to a campus playing field to play soccer, I tripped over my feet and hit my head on the ground.
WotC had some sort of “game center” in Seattle with tabletop space, and an arcade (I remember playing Medieval Madness pinball for the first time) and a simulation system of we-clearly-lifted-this-from-the-military Battletech pods. Like, enclosed simulator cockpits. Beth Morsund showed off how she could wipe several Mad Cats as an Elemental.
Anyway walking back to the dorms I kept asking “did we do BattleTech pods?”, getting an answer, and forgetting it. Eventually we got back to the dorm, I called home collect, was told to notify someone and immediately forgot, but things apparently worked their way up the ladder until one guy took me to the U of W hospital, where I got an MRI and cleared up sitting in a waiting room while the guy played 40 Questions with me and I’m sure was happy I could identify Wall of Kelp as one of two blue walls in Homelands
Things were still a little fuzzy but they cleared up over months as I’d been told, but apparently directly before this I met Richard Garfield and got a card signed, which I still have no memory of whatsoever
