Yes, and in the ‘70s WASPs in worn knit sweaters or Freudian turtlenecks were more elite-marked than Disco Stu in a shiny new leisure suit.
I guess part of it is education, the new crop’s degrees are a bit more selective and prestigious than the previous Oregon State/OSU default but it’s still like, you have a bachelor’s from Colby, I’m not really gonna recognize that with awe as nose-in-the-air qualification.
