Historically one of the ways you could export stranded (renewable) power was as electrically intense aluminum refining, thus Iceland’s geothermal stuff and isolated Siberian hydropower dams

Exporting stranded power sources as Bitcoin mining opens up some interesting smaller-scale opportunities though, I just saw a mine built to run off the natural gas that would be uneconomical to recover and lost from an oil well
