Thinking about shifting expectations around women’s bodies, how “it’s like she’s poured into that dress/those jeans” was understood as praise but Jennette McCurdy having a soft body shapeable by clothing made her less of a sex object than Ariana Grande, Title IX, Jane Fonda aerobics, 80s “hardbodies”, Baywatch, the Thighmaster, etc.
