Remember exploring through some drainage canal on the edge of our development as a kid and seeing like 3 abandoned steel oil drums and being like “I recognize this from movies and TV, this was put here by some villainous polluter!”

Then growing up and realizing that life isn’t a movie and there aren’t secret adventure plot hook mutagens strewn around my neighborhood and who the hell would go to the bother for 3 barrels

Then growing up more and getting the politicoeconomic context around pollution and the EPA in the 80s and realizing that was exactly what that was
