like, when I talk about tracing and cutting your hand out as turkeys in November being a residue of village agrarianism people smile indulgently but take “opening day of deer season is a school holiday” as backwards and “two weeks off for [local crop] harvest time” as primitive but that’s what an education system that takes food seasonality seriously looks like
