We did that.
More people got shot, mass assaulted by the govement.
More people got mass incarnated by the govement
More people got, stalk, doxxed, and blacklisted by the govement.
And even more rasict regular day mfs got the gall to harm people.
But yeah… us lilly Americans are so passive and complicit to the threats of govement authority🙄🙄🙄🙄
I’m also really tired of people acting like the French are the pinnacle of revolutionary effort when they are still actively punishing Haiti for freeing themselves from slavery and becoming the first free Black country in the world. Haiti (and mad countries in continental Africa) is still suffering to this day because of the French so all these hohoho those French guys got balls! tweets I keep seeing from white people really annoy me and I wish they’d shut the fuck up
Consider this: the people in France starting fires and throwing molotovs might be the very same people who are fighting against Frances colonial legacy? Perhaps some of them are even of hatian (or Algerian or Moroccan or Malian or Senegalese etc etc) descent? Do people think the French leftist movement is this lilly-White??? Paris is like, chock full of impoverished dissatisfied immigrants, do you think they’re not out there in the crowds protesting too????
Also, does America’s neoliberal imperialist empire invalidate the struggles of leftist protestors in America then? This logic is really dumb lol. Most leftists are against imperialism at least in theory.
Furthermore, if you think what happened re: George Floyd in 2020 is in anyway comparable to the insanely large, long-lasting, and aggressive protest tactics deployed in France you are far too confident in American protest tactics. Like 2020 was big protests FOR AMERICA. In France that would be like a fuckin Tuesday lol.
I’m just. Astounded that people think that FRENCH PROTESTORS who are currently agitating against islamophobic laws would somehow be in favor of the punitive debts imposed on Haiti by France after the revolution. Like do you really think they support that? Or do you see all foreign countries and homogenous entities, where citizens don’t have opinions or take part in political action, and where apparently every single anti-government protestor is actually pretty cool with all the terrible shit their government does abroad, despite being. Anti-government protestors?????????? I’m just so dumbfounded by this post
last time I was in France the bus driver’s union went on strike for a like 2 weeks because one of the drivers got mugged. Not because of any dispute with the company, not because they were dissatisfied with wages or something, but because they wanted everyone to know that that kind of treatment was absolutely off-limits, and they were willing to shut down the whole city to make the point.
French political culture is just vastly more willing to employ these kinds of tactics, and that willingness gets them better unions, better healthcare, and better pensions.
To repeat, and this is not a joke, “a mob in the streets” is the French national idiom. The American national idiom is, depending on how you look at it, “write incendiary essays until someone starts a romantic revolutionary war of succession” or “shed your particular identity and become a state agent, violently establish hegemony and refound a ruling yeoman class” soooooo
