The worst aesthetic problem with Minecraft is that as a building material, wood is objectively worse in all ways than stone, and is just like a thing you do when you’re a bougie gentrifier willing to go to a lot of extra trouble and risk to optimize for appearances. In Minecraft the structurally ideal house is always just made out of stone, which is so unaesthetic!

I guess the problem is that it’s all a byproduct of stone being very easy to clear and carry, but it’s a mining game, so if that weren’t the case it wouldn’t play very well

Wood is much lighter and has a higher tensile strength than stone. If you go without wood, then every place where you would normally use a wooden lintel, beam, or rafter becomes a huge headache. There is nothing structurally ideal about building with 100% stone, which is why it has never been the norm at any time in history.
