Honestly if I had Soros money I’d do some of what those braindead conservative conspiracy theorists believe he’s doing. Send over private jets to bring members of the migrant caravan in to the U.S., not even because of my views on that issue specifically, nor for some craven politically calculated ones, but just to flex on the Trump administration. What are you gonna do, arrest me? I’m a billionaire, there absolutely no consequences for any of my actions

I mean, yes? Use the broad discretion in state power to arrest you and impound your assets and choke off both incoming and outgoing resource flows, including those without which your most favored long-term allies and institutions will fail or weaken into vulnerability; set you free and resume those flows only on condition that you sign key assets over to refine loyalists? With the assurance that unlike broad measures like capital controls, your fellow capitalists will see more upside in internalizing “don’t be him” (and others will see opportunity in your downfall) than mounting a united pushback?
