A strange thing about this Kashoggi/Saudi business is how shocked everyone’s presenting, when American culture, right now in 2018, has MULTIPLE idiomatic expressions for “if you challenge a monarch’s rule, they will kill you”.

Like, “When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die.” What did you think that meant? The sentiment’s so seemingly accepted we use it as a metaphor for other things – “If you come at the king, you best not miss.” But here people are, aghast that that exact situation plays out exactly as the proverbs say.
