I dunno were the original Looney Tunes kid viewers supposed to recognize the pre-Code Edward G. Robinson “nyaa” gangster movies?
(like how the Rita & the Runt bits mapped to the way Looney Tunes riffed off famous movie musicals)
The whole point of Spielberg (here a producer/“presenter” thru Amblin, following Tiny Toons) was reactionary, he recasted his 50s childhood compatible with 80s-90s adulthood
You know who saw that and tried to live up to the promise, to use animation to reconcile musicals and Hollywood tradition and everything to the real post-Reagan culture?
