the underlying message of every post-apocalyptic story is that rebuilding civilization is really difficult so perhaps we should save time and aggravation by not heedlessly destroying the one we already have.

one of the more interesting things in recent grassroots American rhetoric is the return of pro-Union anti-Confederate sentiment

like that doesn’t resemble any period since they stopped waving the bloody shirt so much as the run-up to the war

in explicit opposition to America’s previous Dunning School “that was a bad idea on balance” and “War of Brothers” reunionist narratives as developed by people in the aftermath

this connects with recent drives to tear down war memorials and suppress historic flags and regionalist identities to make way for ascendant rivals which 90s post-Cold War Balkans/Africa lessons taught us was VERY bad but now I hear is VERY good
