Two of my bigger proto-kontextmaschine moments in maybe 8th grade were
1) Realizing, like not just mechanically affirming when asked but grokking that telephone poles didn’t grow like trees and every one – every single one was there because of conscious human intent, someone had decided to put it there in particular and other people had acted to realize that
2) Noticing that there was a definite relationship between a classmate having divorced parents and their home’s proximity (down to fractions of a block) to heavily trafficked inter-town streets and being like “what’s THAT about”
