Huh, looking at Badger right now and realizing one way I affirmed the closeness of intimate others to myself was modeling how much I would miss them if they died but now that I can’t feel loss that doesn’t return anything.

So if this (unconfirmed!) report is true, then today is the end of Putin being considered a “strongman” leader. The only way that reputation could have survived was by killing or imprisoning Prigozhin. Instead, one of his underlings— literally his former chef!— stood against Putin’s desires and still got exactly what he wanted, without the Russian military ever laying a finger on him. Putin’s forces couldn’t stop the mutiny on their own, he had to address the nation on TV about the fact that the Russian government was being challenged from within, and even still that wasn’t enough to stop it.

The illusion of Putin’s invincibility and singular genius has been damaged in a way that will be tricky to spin for domestic Russian audiences. It’s now been brought out into the open that he operates the way most dictators do: sharing power amongst a coalition of allied stakeholders who possess the ability to alter the direction of Russian policy against Putin’s will.

The madman must have done it. He has no reason to retreat like this unless a deal’s been made, an outcome I’ve previously been assuming the Russian government would try to avoid at all costs because of how weak it makes them look. They would only agree to a deal if they couldn’t find a way to take Prigozhin out. The only questions now are 1) what the deal looks like and 2) if the Russian government still tries to kill Prigozhin anyway once his forces stand down.

It also sounds like a lot of Wagner fighters are unhappy with this outcome, and were hoping to take the fight all the way to Moscow. The most common emoji response to Prigozhin’s retreat announcement is 🤡

If u want to write a story about a character that’s just you but hotter with a dark twisted backstory and magical powers and a pet falcon or something, I think u should just go ahead and do that. Who’s gonna stop you? The government?? Fuck the police.

What if someone barges in, points at said character and scream, “Mary Sue!”

Tell them to come back with a warrant

This post came across my dash again and now I am having an absolute blast with self insert hotter me that gets the girls and guys everywhere.

The real reason millenials say “Adulting” is that that if you say something is “for adult reasons” or “grown up reasons” we’ve been trained to associate that with sex and shit when we just wanna say, be vague about our chore habits

…you know I don’t think I’ve ever seen it put into words so concisely but that is exactly why I use “adulting” over any other term.

“doing adult things” = almost always a euphemism for sexy stuff (when other people say it)

“adulting” =  all the tedious things like laundry and cooking that you become responsible for as an adult

We used to use “grown-up things” fine, though, I wonder if the thing is that’s by contrast with childish things and now that even adults with household responsibilities often aren’t parents “childish” isn’t as ready-at-hand a point of comparison?

going to be losing my mind about this forever. neurotypical people don’t know why other people do things EITHER!!!! they are operating on VIBES. diagnose u with NO VIBES DISEASE

Honestly yes, since Covid spread to my brain and gave me a new personality and I only then realized the old one had been autistic by contrast, I don’t fully know why I do things sometimes and just operate on vibes.

Like logical reasoning is still done with the same structures and procedures, but especially social stuff – I had always been like “is everyone else aware of information they’re picking up from some other frequency?”

And like, they are definitely – now I am – picking up that frequency but weirdly we’re not becoming aware of any information from it, it’s like it goes from input to informing our own behavior without ever surfacing into consciousness.

Allistic stuff is actually a lot like that - like, if I want to go up and have a conversation with someone I don’t have to consciously decide on a subject, and figure something to say about it, and a particular approach to open with, and precisely when to time it for, instead ifs just like an adventure game – I choose TALK with GIRL and that stuff just sorts itself out.

Well maybe even better cause the classic trope is undercutting a smooth talker by drawing attention to the way the things they say do not cohere in a logical view but I have decades of experience of approaching conversation from an exclusively “what actually makes sense here?” standpoint and drawing on that experience I can make sure my patter holds together even if I don’t entirely know what it’s gonna be until it comes out of my mouth.
